Our Programs

 

Leadership Grant - given to each  community to allow for professional and administrative training within the community arts councils.

Newsletter - keeping its members and the regional communities informed on arts related information and issues. The mailing list for this newsletter is updated on a regular basis.

Regional Facilitation Program - the opportunity for special interest groups within the region to meet and discuss common issues and concerns e.g. facility managers, presenters etc.

Municipal Advocacy Program - a venue for political advocacy with government representatives within the region

Regional Events Program - provides support to cultural programs and events that have regional significance, provides training or networking opportunities, and assists in promoting or raising the profile of a variety of artistic disciplines.

  • i.e. Multicultural and Northern Indigenous Arts Festival; The Theatre BC Peace River Zone Festival; The Writing on the Ridge Literary Series

Regional Juried Art Exhibition - is held each year in a different member community. The PLRAC worked closely with the community volunteers to provide assistance and consistency. This event was very successful and provides the community arts council with a very high profile and the opportunity to showcase the arts.

Comprehensive Policy Manual - has been developed and improved  over a number of years. This manual is available to both regional and provincial organizations and the PLRAC provides assistance in developing their own policies. The PLRAC will continue to assist local member groups and other arts related organizations in the development of their policies. The PLRAC policy manual is reviewed and updated on an annual basis as part of the ongoing planning and review process.
 

 

Support for Federal and Provincial Representatives - to arts related organizations through telephone and information services. BCTC, Theatre BC and BCMA have representatives who reside in the region.

Ongoing Training and Support - through members and others with expertise, ongoing training and advice to CACs within the region. Presentations are given to CACs, when requested, relating to funding, grant applications, event and program management, and policy development. This service has been accessed by new and regrouping councils.

Discipline Workshops - in conjunction with special arts events and programs, etc. ( e.g. Regional Juried Art Exhibition,  Zone Drama Festival, Aboriginal Arts Festival)

Professional Development - within the region's Community Arts Councils by assisting with travel cost to conferences, regional meetings, and training sessions as well as bringing in training experts.

Regional Database - maintained and enlarged to provide information to the community arts councils and other interested organizations or facilities.

Art Acquisition - allows one community per year to choose one piece of local art work to be presented to the Peace River or Fort Nelson Regional Districts.
